This is probably really easy to do but the solution is elluding me. The old PC running windows 98 has been given to my 'silver surfing' grandparents, but it still has my Dads old profile on it and I can't find a way of shifting it.

I feel a little guilty always asking for help on this forum but rarely being able to help others!

It might be in control pannel/passwords, could be wrong though, it's been a while...

Thats assuming it was set up that way in the first place, might not have been in which case you might have to manually change everything back to what you want it to be. 98 wasn't great on profiles.

I thought it would be that simple but its almost as if it doesn't recognise there is a profile because it only seems to let me start the new profile wizard.

No luck with the passwords.

It's just one of those things that presents no actual problem but it's annoying how I can't figure out to remove it!

Do a search for .pwl files. Should be fairly obvious which one it is, then just delete it.

Why not reinstall with a fresh 98 or even better, 2000. Probably your best bet to be honest as your 98 set-up (if it's old), if going to be bloated with all sorts of rubbish and more importantly, 98 is no longer supported anymore so no more security updates which could pose a bit of a problem.....

In the passords control panel applet you can set whether users use profiles or if everyone uses the same profile. Odd place to set it, but that's where you do it.
