Another parking ticket question.
Discussion
Not for me....
A friend has got a ticket from some civilian outfit or other for parking in a DIY store for more than three hours. Fair enough, except the ticket is from 09:57 until 15:20. Conveniently for her she didn't get up until gone ten that day as she had a doctors appointment at 11:20.
So the parking attendant has obviously guilded the lilly somewhat.
Muggins here has been volunteered to write the letter. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on the initial draft? What legislation covers falsifying a parking ticket on private land?
Dear Sir or Madam.
I have recently received a parking ticket from yourselves dated XX/XX/XXXX from 09:57 until 15:20. Fortunately I remember the day in question very well as I had a doctors appointment. At 09:57 on the day in question I was still in bed. My car was parked on my driveway. I left home and went straight to the doctors some time later. I do not deny that I was in the car park at 15:20.
Usually I would state the exact time I arrived, but as one possible scenario is that the ticket was intentionally falsified I will not be revealing the time of my arrival as yet. The error is a matter of hours, not minutes. If the warden did intentionally falsify the ticket then it would also be very simple for them to also say it was a typographical error and merely claim to have seen my car shortly after I arrived. I trust in the circumstances that you can understand my suspicions.
I do however have an independant witness who can vouch that I could not possibly have been in the car park when stated.
I trust you will treat the matter as seriously as I do and investigate the matter fully. I await your written response within five working days.

I would also mention that you're fully up to speed with the DVLA guidelines regarding private parking enforcement (found at www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/codeprac.htm ) and that you trust all of their practices conform to those guidelines.
It might just make them think you're more 'in the know'.

Blimey Bliarout, where is this paragon of a doctor who has done with a patient scheduled for 11:20 before 12:20?
Can't have been much over the three hours unless it was near the quack's and two birds with one stone and all that.
Sorry can't be much help with this one. Were the signs readily understood and suitably positioned. ECP are notorious in my experience for dodgy signing.

Oh she's probably guilty as hell but by about two hours less than she's charged with... Probably only a few mins over. You know what these women are like. Can't have been much over the three hours unless it was near the quack's and two birds with one stone and all that.

At first I was thinking this was a nice one for my pet favourite, the BoR but it's probably more public spirited to highlight a devious lying warden...
I like to think of this as a game of call my bluff... We know what time she arrived, but do ECP?
I'm gonna ask if the docs has CCTV as if they do that'll be a nice closing line for them
can you not ignore the ticket until they apply to the DVLA for a name and address? Make them spend some money before you write to them. If you write to them now it will save them a few quid finding out your name and address. also they may drop it if they have to start investing money in recovering it.

Well my refusal to reveal the true arrival time must have worked. The young lady recently got a letter and they've dropped it
