If fitted, some people use the Land Rover sender mounted on top of the engine, next to the ECU coolant sensor. It is often left in place unconnected, presumably being used as a plug. If you do use it, you need to connect it in series with a resistor so it gives a proper reading on the gauge. Do a search on here - the resistor value is mentioned a few times.

Cheers Andy, i did try and connect to that one but the reading was way high (as i suspected it would need a resistor)
