Happy Chim with new MOT
Discussion
Took the chim for its mot at the weekend and it failed on a leaking front shock.
Knew it would fail when the examiner looked at it and said "I f
g hate TVR's!!!
So i took the car home...removed the shock and cleaned it up, replaced and went for a spin. When i checked it again there was no sign of any leaks so back to the MOT station where the same mechanic looked at it and said it was 100% better!!!
Total cost for 12k miles use since last MOT???
1 rag reduced to an oily mess and a couple of grazed knuckles!!!
Must admit he didnt check the emmissions (pre-cats removed and straight thru exhaust)!!!

Hello Paul,
Yes i made a hell of a lot of noise as i left...not as much as when he wanted to test the breaks on the rolling road and struggled to get the car out of the rollers...sounds far too loud now...dont know why but i am sure it is getting louder!!!
And when you hit 5k + revs it back fires like a machine gun!!!
Chugger,
I made a few mistakes when buying mine.
It was the first one i looked at...i was impressed by the noise / speed and the fact that i had the money sat there waiting did not help.
I think i was just unlucky buying my car...in fact i was ripped off as the car was sold with a full MOT...horn switch missing? wipers not working? lights not working? plus a whole load of other things bodged...cooling fans turning the wrong way, no thermostat to combat the effect of over heating due to incorrect cooling fans.
Having someone look at it can be a help but no matter how good they are, i doubt they could have looked at mine before i brought it and said "the thermostat is missing and the muppet who has taken it out has put an 8mm bolt back in by mistake!!!"
Look at loads...drive loads...and get a feel for what is right.
