Can any one offer any advice on removing Chimera type wheels?
I have splined type security wheel nuts & no socket to fit them.

A local wheel centre had a go at the weekend using a special left hand threaded socket & a moderately brute force method of hammering on an old socket but with little success. (wouldnt let them go at it too hard)

The problem seems to be that the splined nuts are so deep into the wheel making them difficult to work on, also means the inside & outside dia of any socket critical.

I have no idea where the orginal socket has gone, it was last seen in the boot. (i've check under the fuel tank)

Its only since an MOT fail which required wheel removal has the missing socket come to light.

Any ideas ?

Apart from drilling them out, you seemed to have tried the other method that I can think of. Lets hope someone else had a better idea!

I used one of those sockets with all the little hex pins in it to break the lock (broke the socket in the process)and wind it out a bit, then hammered an impact socket on to the nut and slowly undid it, and it came off. So far I've had to remove two sets of locking wheel nuts due to lost keys.

I have a set of Snap-On removal sockets for just this kind of job. Work brilliantly.

£90 a set to buy or send me one of your new born and you are welcome to borrow mine!
