It didn't really sound - it just sort of whooshed past almost silently compared to the other cars.

"sound" isn't a word I'd use Steve.... It was like watching a scalextric car!
At one point the Radio Le Mans reporter was standing next to one of the Audis as it pulled away from a pit stop and the engine was so quiet you could very clearly hear the tyres squeal.

The Panoz however sounded fantastic!

Standing about 300 yards after the exit of Arnarge, when it was flat in 3rd and 4th, all you could hear was tyre noise...spooky.

To put it in perspective I think these 2 cars were making more noise than the Audi's at full speed

Something I coudn't quite get my head around. It's a bit like seeing a rifle fire and then hearing nothing but a woosh. Strange and not very nice at all.

Oh yes indeedy. What a noise!
Before I went, I had my dad and his friends saying the race would be loud, but that kind of loud I can deal with!

The Corvettes weren't quite as loud (only slightly quieter) but sounded just as good.
