oil warning light when accererating hard

still getting used to the new car but getting braver and giving her a bit of boot now. I havr found the oil warning light comes on when i really floor her, going out again when i ease off. Anyone got any suggestions/seen this before? I guess shes just a little thirsty for some more oil but dont want to cause any damage. Shes a 99 S6. If it is just a bit thirsty whats the best oil to use?

On a lighter note im really enjoying the car, doesnt sound as nice as my old chimaera but is much faster/more comfortable/quieter with wondows shut/smoother ride/faster/greener/faster

fill it up immediately. dont drive it again before you do. Thats exactly how i lost an engine

Got an oil pressure gauge? What does that show? By the time the oil warning light comes on the oil pressure is low enough to compromise the engine, so it's important you know whether the oil pressure really is dipping under acceleration. It might be as simple as criminally low oil level plus a bit of oil surge.

the oil pressure seems fine not dropping off as far as i can see.

whAt oil should i fill up with? mobil 1?

Could be a dodgy oil pressure sender - just had mine replaced with the latest spec and the gauge is much more responsive.

Mobil 1 0w 40 seems to be the default but I (& plenty of others) think it's a bit thin - my S6 used to drink it pre-rebuild! Now run her on Millers XML 15w 50 mineral oil which provides good low temp fluidity & also performs well under prolonged load.

The oil pressure should drop as car warms up.
You should check the oil on a S6 when engine is hot.

Not sure if this is the same, but had a similar problem onmy Tuscan.

New Oil Pressure sensor and all sorted.

Mine did the same, at 7k RPMS the oil light would flicker even though the oil guage was steady and there was plenty of oil in it.

Havnt noticed it recently and it hasnt caused any problems over the last two years ive had the car.

IMO would trust the mechanical guage over the sensor
