Solvol Autosol followed by good old Brasso. If you haven't got either, Jif is surprisingly good.

Apparently MR Muscle Oven Cleaner does the job very well - I haven't tried it yet but don't forget to wear gloves

Thanks,on the subject of brasso, a custmer of mine once told me if i ever want a quick pick me up,wait until the brasso settles then get a tea spoon and scoop off the clear liquid floating on the top and enjoy!!!How did he find that one out!

If it's as bad as ours got then it'll need more than polish. I used a wire brush then fine wet/dry paper then autoglym metal polish then t cut then the usual autoglym stuff for polish and wax. Did the pipe and the whole underside of teh silencer as it was starting to rust quite badly. Took about 3 hours in all, laying on the drive looking like a right nit.

Haven't tried it myself, but I hear tell that CocaCola is good for this sort of thing. Heaven knows what it does to your guts if it is good for cleaning metal!

Autosol, T-cut do a metal polish I think & also Autoglym do a metal polish.

I use Autosol which seems to cut through heavy build up very well, with a little elboy grease. Afterwards give the tips a layer of polish which helps when you next clean them.

I have found that Autoglym Metal Polish with a good old fasioned washing up pad works a treat (about 2p each from Tesco!!)

Happy tip polishing....

fine wire wool works a treat, takes off all the black soot, then use Mer (fine abrasive polish) and the tip will look shining again! Oh, a fair dollop of elbow grease too :0
