Superchargers that is, not turbos (for the moment, maybe later).

What would bolt-on and work on a fresh and free-breathing 4.6? Am I going to have to go Megasquirt or will the Lucas suffice (with help)? Links appreciated.

Is the TVR Power kit ready yet?

Please assume the running gear and transmission will cope (it might not but, hey, that's another thread )

The easy ones all seem to use the belt-driven hair drier type of affair, this is quite compact and can be fitted in front of the engine - but the boost is heavily rev dependant and there's no mid-range or bottom end. If you want a positive displacement version with stump-pulling torque you want to talk to Nigel at UK Blowers or Dennis Priddle at AJ6.

The Lucas ECU is not very good when compared to more modern equipment. Mapped ignition and better injector control (ie moving towards sequential injection) is a good idea whatever forced induction route you choose...

Your posting concerning Superchargers has been forwarded to me as I have just driven almost 1000 faultless miles in TVR Power's Chimaera 4.0, this car being fitted with a Rotrex unit. First impressions are fantastic, the car has incredible driveability and performance, this complying with the initial design objectives whereby the 4.0 litre should achieve similar performance to the 5.0 litre. There is no lag under acceleration and it pulls strongly from 2000 rpm all the way to 6000rpm. When you want power and put your foot down the delivery is smooth, without surge and without any dramatics. Its similar to driving a TVR Power Taraka. The car is a pleasure to drive and has none of the limitations associated with earlier systems. Boost is held to less than 6 Psi, therefore an Intercooler is not necessary. The car is achieving 280hp and 270 ft.lbs of torque at the wheels measured on the Dyno, this being equivalent to 320hp at the flywheel surpassing the 5.0 litre HC. The standard ECU and airflow meter have been retained. The installation looks really good and has attracted a lot of interest from the proffesionals and the public, it was a shame to return the car to TVR Power. The system will be available shortly when it has completed is shake down tests. This is tremendous upgrade for owners of 4.0 litre cars and hopefully will help to lift their residual values.
We are planning to take the car to TVR Club track day in July, if your interested in seeing it. I hope this overview keeps you interested.

I saw the car at Snetterton last Saturday and can vouch for the neat installation. Stationary the engine idled nicely and picked up very quickly (no load). Also no turbine whine - just exhaust noise!
