Overflow pipe into airbox

Replaced the battery on my 4.5lw recently (first thing that's gone wrong in the two and a half years I've had it, and that was down to me letting it get flat)

Only took a couple of hours!! but seems to be fine now. Optima yellow top fits well and seems to be great at holding a charge.

Anyway, when I took the airbox off to get access to the battery, I noticed a small tube that enters via a hole at the rear of the airbox, presumably some sort of overflow pipe??

When reassembling, I placed the tube back through the hole but its quite a loose fit, as there is nothing to seal it in place.
Unfortunaley the tube fell out when I removed the airbox, so I did not have a chance to see if it had been sealed in.

No sign of there having been a seal, but wondered if anyone knows if it should be sealed in. Having a gap round that pipe seems odd to me re intake balance, etc.

Car seems to run ok, but difficult to tell

Its the air pressure measurement into the ECU, which will make minor adjustments to the fuelling depending on the barometric air pressure. So while its not hugely important ( unless your'e planning a drive a few thousand feet above sea level, then it'll become a lot more important) your car will run better with it solidly attached
