Dang it, the Cerb won't start! Has been running fine with no starting problems. Went to drive it this morning to Autoglass for a new windscreen (been waiting weeks) and she refuses to start. Engine is turning over fine (fairly new battery) but the engine does not sound even close to firing.
Anyone any ideas??

I used to get thi in the winter with my race battery. The ECU needs a certain amount of voltage to run, and sometimes the battery would have enough grunt to turn the starter, but not enough voltage to powerup the ECU.
When my ignition is on and un-imobilised, I can hear a continuous beep before I turn the engine over. If there was not enough voltage to power the ECU, there was no noise at all.
Of course, your Cerbera may be different depening on how it was wired up the day they built it

Mine used to refuse to start even if i had only left it a day and would only start if the battery was at absolute full charge. The battery was fine--it was the reams of wireing and connectors that run back and forth from the boot which was losing just enough power to stop the car starting up on anything other than absolute full charge.
Joolz diagnosed the problem and added a relay (i think) --now i have never since had another battery non starting issue-- dont even need to charge the battery anymore and i only do short journeys!
Get some Jump cables and start itup that way--if it starts and runs fine after that and even starts easily when you stop and try and restart the engine-- that may well be the problem.

Not sure what I did but somehow I had tripped the alarm so that the engine was immobilised. At first I thought the battery was flat but there was still enough charge for lights etc.
Left it charging overnight but still no dice in the morning. Tried removing and reinserting master key but it still wouldn't start. Resigned myself to calling the garage on Monday morning for advice.
My wife then reads the manual, gets in the car and within 30s, fires it up having reset the alarm. Not my proudest moment of TVR ownership :-(

Tried jump starting, no joy. Left battery on charge over night, still no go this morning. Pretty sure it is not alarm/immobiliser prob as the ignition is coming on and the fuel pump. The engine is turning over very quickly so the battery seems fine. Any more ideas anyone??

The Halfords batteries carry a 3 year guarantee. When mine died last year I just took it back and they swapped it over for a new one (was just over 2 years old). Might have saved you 70 squids.

The Halfords batteries carry a 3 year guarantee. When mine died last year I just took it back and they swapped it over for a new one (was just over 2 years old). Might have saved you 70 squids.

It died after just one year, so no way was I going to get another one! Heard good things about Varta, so thought I would give it a try. Have taken Halfords battery back and am now trying to get my money back.
I agree that to last only a year is poor. The Varta ones certainly seem to perform better, so good choice. My Cerb has a hefty Amp fitted for the in car entertainment (previous owner kindly had this install done), so I reckon that drained some of the life out of mine, it also didn't help when my starter motor went on the blink and I probably left that for longer than I should of before replacing it, so again that would have helped reduce the life of the battery, the way forward is to go for one of a higher rating to compensate, or like me take them back to Halfrauds every two years and get it replaced free of charge
