WHERE IS IT NOW? Try to trace your old car
Discussion
I am sure that many of us have often wondered what became of our beloved car from years ago.
How about trying to locate some.
I had success in tracing my old Lamborghini Espada after selling it 20 years ago, so I will kick this off with a request for the whereabouts of my old BMW M635csi.
The registration was D132 JAE after I took my private plate off. It was quite a well known car, because it used to belong to the ex-boxer Barry McGuigan. Colour was Zinnober red and it had an M-Tech body kit from the factory. I do know that the last tax disc expired in 2003.

I have been looking for my first Beetle for years, it was cream 1972 1200 version lym ***k last know whereabout was the maidstone area. Had a 1700 big bore engine fitted and 1 piece front windows. the little info the DVLA would give me was that it hasn't been taxed since I sold it many many years ago. Cant imagine it was scrapped as it sold for quite a lot of money!
Try this site: DriveArchive. Needs more publicity really as I put mine on there years ago, but not heard anything

Hmm, OK. But it depends on current owners putting the details of the car on there. I've nothing to do with the site, but thought it was a good idea.

HPI check?
www.rac.co.uk/web/vehiclechecks/dvla_lookup/
Whack it in the RAC 'HPI-Lite' to see if it's still alive.

My Old golf appeared on e-bay a couple of years after I sold it.
Just checked my Old Reg's which don't appear to have done anything since I sold them.
Checked a few family No's and got the following "Sorry, no matching registration number found" for 3 vehicles we have owned for years.

If you're looking for an old car try the relevant owners' club. When my parents moved house a couple of years ago we found a box of files belonging to my grandfather, and it was purchase receipts, service history, various stuff, for cars he'd owned in the thirties and some from after the war. I traced his '34 Lancia through the Lancia Motor Club and went to meet the Belgian owner when he was over here on a Lancia rally. He was very excited to find all this old documentation, photos etc from when his car was new, and my dad said it was quite strange and emotional sitting in the car his dad had driven all around Europe (he did the 1934 Alpine Trial in it) ten years before he was born!

Tried Google and got nothing at all. The DVLa only said it was declared SORN, so not much help there.
