Drove a V8S last Saturday - well - you know - round the car park in second - My God its loud, I was surrounded by this rumbling wall of noise - It spoke to me but I couldn't make out what it was saying - it was either

" don't even think about it "

or

" I dare you".

PHEW !!!! - Even second gear at 10 mph is scary

I think you mean a V8S as opposed to the S3 which has a V6 - unless of course someones been playing silly b*ggers!

does anyone know the db levels for the V6 and the V8S?

I wouldnt have thought the actual noise levels were that far apart, the V8 just has that more distinctive lovely deep sound.

Mine (V8S, standard exhaust) varies between 96/100 dB using the standard MSA noise test.

Yes my decatted S3c measured consistently between 96- 98 db on the standard MSA noise tests last season. That was until the baffles disintegrated in the front box then it tested at 105db Fortunately the testers only got round to me as I was lining up for the last timed run and apparently that was too late to disqualify me

so I guess the conclusion is, as I suspected, the V8 is actually no louder, just that lower tone

dont have too many probs setting off car alarms in the V6 still.........

The V8 makes less scraping noises than the V6 as it has (slightly) better ground clearance.

My S4 (same chassis as V8) doesn't!

And on the subject of noise, tested yesterday and recorded 105dB@3K 120dB peak!

Now starting some serious exhaust mods.

Cheers
