Nip arrived in post today, says a camera got me at 48 in a 40.

Been back to the site and had a look. Fixed truvelo camera on opposite side of dual carriageway to location and direction of travel specified on NIP.

This means camera had tooperate over 4 lanes of traffic and the central resevation to get me. There are no camera road markingks on my side of the road.

Is it possible for the camera to operate in these conditions?

Any advice on what action I should take to avoid 3 points?

Is it possible I was nicked by a mobile trap on my carriageway that I did not see, if so should it say so on theNIP/

Are you sure?
I was not aware truvelo's could work across the carrageway. I suppose in principal they can but i for one have never seen this.
Am I wrong?!

Madcop did state on another thread that the infamous Truvelos can get you from both sides of the road. 4 carrageways and over a barrier seems a little odd.

Ask to see the photographic evidence and ask them by what method this evidence was collected. Thsy should have no problem in giving you this information, after all, its a reasonable question if they intend to prosecute.

If it's a Truvelo look for the two sensor strips which should be buried in the tarmac a close to the camera - this is how it knows your speed, Truvelo is not radar. If there are no strips then something's amiss!

At the Truvelo camera sites I have seen there are also two lines painted on the road close to these buried strips - these might not be needed though, they may have been indicators to tell the construction crew where to bury the sensor strips.

There is a Truvelo site sprung up very close to my home, which, according to the local press, is bi-directional, but lacks the normal road strips. Is this a new kind?

The "strips" will only be there if they haven't replaced the tarmac at the same time. If it's new tarmac at the site then you won't see any "strips".

Thanks Joust. Not that I intended to speed past there if I could help it, I would rather save that for the NSLs.

Strangely enough they carved the tarmac up on friday to put the strips in. I guess we had a nice ornament for the past few weeks before they decided to make it active!
