Hi Guys,

Anyone here have experience of track day insurance cover premiums? Got a great quote from APlan but with no track day cover. As I'm not likely to do many days, I thought that it might be possible to get some additional cover on an event basis, or maybe block buy cover for 5 events?

All contributions gratefully received.

Think I paid about £220 for on trackday last year - didn't do much hunting around though.

I used these guys www.morispayment.co.uk/affiliate_trackday.asp?prefix=CIG

Let us know if you find anything cheaper - will need it later this year!!

Blimey! £220 for ONE day?

So £300 for unlimited cover is good then? That's the difference between A Manning and A Plan, with Mannings offering track day cover but A Plan not.

That's one reason I go with Mannings. Do more than one trackday a year and you're saving money.

Certainly was expensive for one day - especially as I managed to warp my front disc brakes & rear diffuser fell off!!!

Have ti say, this is a bit of a nasty surprise!

Mate of mine paid £80 when he did a trackday in his 3.2TT. Mind you, dunno what that covered....

I'm with Mannings now as I do quite a few. Pays to have it included in the standard road policy. One track day insurance would have cost me £220 last April, other than it was my first trip in the track in a TVR so I paid for a days instruction, and that halved the cost. They all cost about the same, but Competition Car Insurance pipped everyone I recall.
There is a large excess of 10% of the car value applied though. Mannings Insurance I think it's about £1200 if I remember correctly, much better than the £3K excess for the one-off policy(est £30K market value at the time.)

I agree with Rich here. CCI were very competitive and professional (as were Manning), but you either chose track cover or windscreen cover - they were mutually exclusive which given I do 10k+ miles per year in the Tuscan, was too big a risk not to have. Mannings are excellent all around for track-day inclusive, but in the end, I went with A-Plan as I do not plan on doing more than 1 track day most likely this year (if at all at this rate!). Saving over Manning - app £400 - although all three companies would be recommended over other insurers I spoke to. I had to weigh up this saving against the one-day track cover cost of app 10% of your car value; if I do 2 days this year, I am down on the money.

Yeah, it's a bit of a balancing act. Never tracked before so don't know how often I'll want to (or can afford to!) do it in the next 12 months. Difference in premiums comes to £300 for me, so it's a closer run thing.

I'm thinking that I'll go Mannings this year, as I WILL do one track day (thinking about Brands on 24th July)and probably one more......

Glad to hear the APlan are good too, as track day cover aside I get a good feel about them.

Thanks for all the input folks.
