I propose that the competition closes at midnight on June 30th. From then until midnight on July 2nd anyone can cast a vote by posting their choice in a voting thread (therefore making sure people can't vote multiple times as in online polls - we have all done it!). At the end of the period, the winner will be obvious, PetrolTed to cast the deciding vote if needs be?

thoughts?

I have just sent him an email. We will have to wait and see if he replies. If not I think the voting system isthe way to go, unless someone can set up a poll, like they did for the photo of the year. IIRC you couldn't multiple vote on that one

personally, i'd prefer that one person decided - voting means, averages, which means average is usually what you get... has somebody won the monthly competition more than once? could we not ask he or she to judge it?

The photo of the year winner won by a landslide and it was the best one, not average at all

It depends....

...just sticking my two pennies in...

...whether we're just having a nice bit of competitive, but fun, sharing of ideas.

The great thing here is that pleasing someone's own (and unknown) judgement is impossible to predict. And it's a billion zillion miles away from the very thing that's made me hate any "camera clubs" that I've been within a million miles of. I'm sure others feel the same - the ones that have judging panels that "know" what makes a good composition or whatever other technicality.

This feels more like a side bar in the Pie and Piston where we're just having a laugh and enjoying what other people have done. So the idea of passing the baton around and having one person's judgement is great

It's your round btw...

Very kind words Mrs F .

Personally, I sort of agree with Beano though.

My only comment would be that because the official thread went up late, it may not get all the entries that it deserves (lots of gooduns in the taster thread this month)

The yoke of deciding this months compo might be very heavy, but IMHO its one that last months winner strapped on himself (so to speak)

Have you heard back from him yet?? I don't see why a few days leeway would hurt.

I think any entry over 750 pixels wide should not be judged. How many times has it been said. Every digital camera comes with software that can resize pictures, microsoft have a powertoy to download to do it in an instant. How hard can it be!

Sorry, it's just a bug bear of mine The browser resizing ruins so many pictures.

I'm pleased to see there arn't any offenders in the offical thread yet this month

It doesn't resize for over 750 tall just 750 wide - so that doesn't annoy me

oops, is that mine, didn't think there was a limit on the height, but it is a bit big I grant you, what should the max height be and I'll shrink it down a bit
