It's just had the injectors cleaned, but I'm not due to pick it up until Saturday.

So, (It's a std. 450) if they have time - what tweaks & checks should I see what they can fit in before the weekend? Anything you'd recomend that made your car run smoother, faster e.t.c?

Ask about Wife Assassination - made my Chim go considerably faster afterwards.

The ACT induction kit is a (relatively) inexpensive mod that really makes a difference.

Also, have you had the exhaust sleeved? If not, you should deffo consider it

The Level Cool Running Kit is a good investment too; helping to keep temperatures down.

The induction kit sounds like a plan, I'll ask them about that.

It's already got a "sports exhaust" which is plently loud enough! Does sleeving do anything different?

I have done, and they're going to call me back.

I was just trying to get some opinions on what other people have had done. They seem pretty honest about things so they may well come back to me and say nothing needs doing. Then I can ask them about doing some "extra" tweaks that don't actually need doing - like an induction kit - but would be nice to have and give me something new and shiny!

I'd put the leven cool running kit at the top of the list to be honest. Once this was done on my Chim, I never had any concerns about water temps again.

Hello mate. Only third on my list as it doesn't make anything faster/louder!

I thought (from other threads) you had already had your exhaust 'enhanced'?

My list above is of 'recommendations', it's not a 'to do' list, IYSWIM...

Personally for me on the cooling front, if it ain't broke dont fix it springs to mind.

My cooling system works fine all year round and is regularly serviced so it wouldn't be a priority for me.. (I def wouldnt want my car running any cooler on a Motorway as it would actually be too cold if it did.

Replacing those flexible hoses on the Induction sounds a good idea. I would imagine the std hoses suffer quite badly from heat soak.

A low temp thermostat should not make your car run colder - it will be closed at lower running temps on motorways anyway.

It'll just stop it running too hot, if that makes sense?

Urgh .. won't a 72 degree stat keep the engine at 72 on a cool day at speed and a 82 stat keeps the engine at 82 on a cool day at speed? So switching from an 82 to 72 will make the car run cooler ...

Oh b'lox you're right. Sorry! What I was driving at was that the thermostat need not make your car run too cold, yet will have a beneficial effect on controlling the tendancy to over heat, just by opening the stat a few degreees earlier. I'm sure Leven will have factored this in.

Not Knocking the Leven kit Steve.. And i'm no expert on thermastat ratings so i'll keep muted on that one. For me though since my car runs fine (in the right temperature range) with the current 'stat i wouldn't change it.

If your car runs hot, thats a different issue..

I had a 500 which was a bit more prone to overheating on paper, although never did in reality. I just found that the kit stopped me worrying about the temp gauge. The temp gauge on mine always read low in the winter (50-60oC on a really cold day), but I put that down to the position of the temp sender, since there was still hot air available via the vents in the car.

Hi Steve!

Just to let you know your old girl is still running like a dream! and No overheating probs at all. so I agree, the Leven kit works very well. the Bosch MAFM give up the ghost last month (£189.00) and she is being looked after very well by Ron at Fforest Garage (Ron & Andria are the South Wales RO).

The only mod I have done since purchase is removing the silencer completely, and having straight through pipework fabricated to fit. This not only sounds awesome! but Ron tells me saves money when it's serviced. Now I cant fully remember why, I think he said something about not having to drop the exhaust or bracket etc to gain access to "x" on a full service?? If true, then that's a worhtwhile mod!!

Not sure which way to go from here, maybe a new cam as she's now done 83000 miles!. I think she need a RR to see what stae of tune she's now in. Hope your Cerb is running well!

Ian.
