Hello to all.

This week, I have been mostly spending time in the new Caparo T1.

The car is nearly ready to be run in anger for the first time at Goodwood next week, and as someone important in the project is directly connected to my project, I was invited to a private viewing of the car to give my expert opinion (!!!!!)

I have loads of photos, but no idea how to post them, so somebody mail me a return path, and I can forward them to post.

Also got to sit in Schumacher's 2002-2003 championship winning F1 car, so this week has yet again been a bit special.

And as always, I have photos to prove it, so mail me if you want to see them.

My thoughts, for what they're worth, on the Caparo T1, is that it will sell, it has huge potential, but for something this extreme, they shouldn't bother with sound system or Sat-Nav, that it definately needs a canopy, and that the best colours for the car would be black, red or blue. The finish and detail was superb, and I had a Mclaren F1 beside it to compare fit and finish. Again, photos to prove.

The car I saw was the development hack, but the first production car will be run in anger at Goodwood.

I can't wait.

I will be there on Friday if anyone wants to say hi.

Regards,

Alan.

Know the guy who does the engine.

If the rest of the car is half the quality of his bits, it'll rival Pagani.

I'm still not convinced about the pricing of the car though. It will undoubtedly sell some at that level, but I expect the number to be so small that the makers will regret not pricing it significantly lower (perhaps detuned).

Chasing headline grabbing top speeds is an irrelevance compared to what this car will hopefully be good at (cornering and acceleration).

Good luck with it next week.

Looks neat. Wouldn't mind a go in one for sure, but 150k (if that price was right) is too steep IMO. 100k is still too rich.

Does the canopy slide forwards electrically?

And do you have photos of the other cars in that room? Is that an Alfa Type 33 at the back? And an Aston DB4 GT?

A week of Orange cars!!

Thanks Alan for doing the PPI on my new car. If anyone wants a lambo PPI doing I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Alans services.

Accident wise it's probably only side impact that could be iffy if a Range Rover or something hit you. I believe the cockpit is similar to an F1 safety cell sos should be very strong.

The front wheels look like they'd rip away too. which isn't necessarily a bad thing (dissipates energy)...

Also shouldn't discount the safety in having a quick, light car that can dart out of the way of trouble.

On the SVA, didn't they change the rules for ultra-low volume cars a little while ago? I wonder if this is why they've chosen the price point they have (ie numbers will be kept lower than this limit)...

Limit is fairly high, around 500 cars and I think you can count different models of the same car as a separate tally, i.e. Ariel Atom 160 is counted separatly from Ariel Atom 300

chatted to the BDM at Monaco for a while - will be giving hmi a call shortly as they said they'd be sorting out tests etc come early August (ish).

Personally I think 150K is a bargain - the thing is utterly stuning and the slide forward canopy is as cool as lambo doors. you can drive it everywhere and it claims to beat the p*ss out of most track stuff.....we shall see!

By the way, I would just like to say that I am neither that fat nor that ugly in real life!!!

What a terrible photo of me in the Ferrari, but I just wanted to prove that what I was saying was true.

How embarrasing!!

Alan.

Not from the man himself, but I think 78mm and 63mm should just about fit the bill.

Thanks for that, they certainly seem to work (2408cc total). Is it a 4- or 5-valve cylinder head?

I really appreciate the info, thanks again
