Any advice would be appreciated.
A couple of weeks ago I was driving through Dunstable on the A505, I saw the mobile speed van in the road and checked my speed was 40 as I thought this was the limit, does anyone know the limit here? its a 4 lane stretch of Luton road heading towrds the A5. Is it worth me doing anything as I have never had a speeding ticket in 14 years and I average 30k miles a year with my job. I have had a NIP through saying I was doing 42 in a 30 limit! I know there are some roads that have illegal 30 limits is this one of them?

As far as I know, the road between the centre of dunstable and tesco's is a 30 limit, and from there to the M1 is a 40 limit. They check fairly regularly on that secion, and it is posted IIRC.

Where were you zapped?

IIRC that road is a 30 limit and is clearly posted as such.

Ridgeway Avenue is on the A5 (town) side of the Tesco's roundabout - 30 limit - sorry.

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly.

B*GGER!! Will it be a £60 fine and 3 points? Is there any point in contesting it? These talivan's are a nuisance. It seems they are going the way the old car clampers did, being contracted out and making a load of dosh from it!!

42 c'mon if you are going to be reckless and speed then you might as well make something of it, try 57 in a 30. if you are not paying enugh attention and slipped to 40. get off the road before you kill someone.

Check these sites

http://speedlimit.dreamwater.org/index.html

www.abd.org.uk/

On some roads there has been problems with a lack of 30 mph signs and thier spacing, making the limits unenforcable if challenged.
