Ferrari lays out stall for FoS

New Enzo-powered 599 GTB Fiorano to star

Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
Ferrari has laid out its stall for the FoS and the star will be the first UK showing - and the only one in 2006 -- of the all new 599 GTB Fiorano.

This 620hp, V12 masterpiece combines Ferrari design with race-developed technology from Ferrari's F1 team. Powered by a 5,999cc engine first seen in the Enzo supercar, this car will join the Supercar Run each day.

Goodwood will also be the first opportunity to see a unique Ferrari 612 Scaglietti personalised by the design team from the lifestyle magazine Wallpaper. This car features a number of interior and exterior design elements tailored specifically to reflect the style of Wallpaper and Ferrari together. The car also incorporates the Handling GTC pack.

Ferrari has always been an innovator in the automotive world and at Goodwood Festival of Speed there will be a unique opportunity to see the winning designs of the global competition called "Ferrari: New Concepts of the Myth" which presents the ideas and thoughts of the best students from four of the most respected car design schools worldwide (College for Creative Studies of Detroit, Coventry University – School of Art and Design, European Institute of Design of Turin and Tokyo Communication Arts). The 20 models – in 1:4 scale – will be on show in the Stable Yard at Goodwood, the only opportunity to see the display in this country.

The Festival of Speed will also be the first opportunity for guests to discover the Ferrari Classiche programme, where Ferrari clients can receive certification of authenticity for their cherished cars, technical assistance, maintenance and restoration as required.

A beautifully preserved Ferrari 275 GTB4, one of the first to be authenticated by the Ferrari Classiche programme will be exhibited in the official Ferrari area. Among a range of rare, priceless and beautiful Ferrari cars there will be one of only 29 FXX in the world, the Formula 1 World Championship winning F2004 driven by Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro test driver Marc Gené, and a stunning 1959 Ferrari 250 LWB California Spider.

This year Ferrari has created a very special area in the Stable Yard at the Goodwood Festival of Speed to present the entire range of road cars, the "Ferrari: New Concepts of the Myth" exhibition and the preview of the Ferrari Classiche programme.

I think it's a better effort than the 550/575 series, not sure I'd get one if I had the means though, I think I'd probably prefer the 612 for lazy cruising and a 430CS for hooliganism on the track

Oh well I can dream...

Ferrari has made some fantastic cars over the past few years... the Enzo is something else. However this car looks like a Ferrari should mean and sexy ....

Now where did I put that Lotto ticket ..... ?

Am I the only one who hates the looks of the 599, it's no where near as good looking as the 550/575.

nope...I agree
The 599,while probably a fabulous car shouts "look at me".
Previous front-engined Ferraris, including the 550/575 have always been a study in the art of reserved, classy GT's (456 especially).
But then by all accounts the 599 is more "hard-core sports car " than Grand Tourer??

Thank God thought it was just me who hated the looks.

I thought that with the 430 over the 360. Until I saw them side by side in the flesh. The 430 instantly dated the 360. Not a lot, but you could see how the design had moved on. I have a suspicion the 575/599 will be the same. I hope they have a 575 SA next to a 599 at Goodwood for this reason.

I've seen both the 360 and 430 in the flesh but I still think that the 360 is the better looking car, even if the 430 is a better drivers car.

Thing is , while i agree the 550/575 is prettier , the 599GTB is dynamically superior , to its predecessors , as it has been designed by wind tunnels , aero dynamics , computers etc. The passion maybe has left Ferrari in the beauty stakes , but hey its sure as hell there when you look at the heart of the machine , its very essence. Are Ferrari taking a leaf out of their nemisis Porsche's book?

I was ambling along the highway the other day in Kuala Lumpur when a trailer carrying two uncovered and fully exposed cars sauntered along.

One I recognised, though it was the first I'd ever seen in the steel - F430 Spider. The other I didn't recognise at all. Clearly Ferrari (Scuderia shields, Rosso Corsa), but yet nothing like the 612. If it wasn't the 430, 612, Enzo or 575, what the heck was it? Single cluster rear lights? What??!!

Came back and did a quick search - turns out it was a 599. This was a good three weeks ago by the way. Rich Asians obviously wield clout with new orders of some of these cars.
