Nope, this one could easily live again.
The damage is all localised at the front and furthermore in front of the axle, so it is definitely repairable and relatively easy to do as well. Without seeing the car in the metal I would guess that the repair would cost around £15k using pretty much all new parts. Obviously the shell will have to be straightened and repannelled on a (Celette bracket) jig but I have seen and we have repaired a lot worse that have not been "recorded" (written off).

ya but this is recorded.
who wants a crashed gt2 ?
who wants a crashed gt2 ?
So when you buy a used one for £80k, how do you really know that it has not had a £25k insurance repair? After all, it's not as if 996GT2s are forgiving on their limit so most will have had "incidents" in their past but you will never know just because the car is not recorded if the insurance company paid for the repair.
At least this way (provided that you get the right people to repair it) you know what you are buying, will probably save a lump of money on the deal and not have a car that needs a front end respray due to its previous owner's trackday exploits!

All very well that, but surely this will be a Cat C or D recorded car, with the attendant decrease in value.
Thoe"other" cars out there may indeed have been the subject of a £25K claim but at least they haven't got the stigma of being recorded as such on a register.
