Places not to have the hotstart problem
Discussion
Number 265, the Valeters..
Pulled up, 3 Benz and a couple of beemers being done, walk into the shack to get the vaket sorted, give keys to the valeter..
then Nothing.. Have to push the car into the washing bay. It started first time after the wash of coarse, in front of all those people, how embarassing!!
Next weeks project, modwise kit or new starter motor i think!

First time I experienced it was at the MOT station. Went for a quick blast to get engine warm, but arrived a bit early. Stopped outside to wait for the previous car to be finished. When I was called in, turned the key and nothing. Opend bonnet to allow air to circulate and fortunately a couple of minutes later she started and passed the MOT so I forgave her. Now fitted a relay to cure the problem and since has been fine.
On the forecourt of a hotel in Cannes, with the manager threatening to call the Gendarmes if I didn't move it, and in the process losing four customers! Merde!
I always found the quickest way to get going was to remove the passengers' footwell kickplate and let air circulate to the wiring and relays behind (also cleverly located next to some hot water pipes). Seemed to sort it for me, and a little bit of re-arranging of the wiring meant it hasn't happened since.

That worked for me too, in addition to fitting the hot-start kit I've also lagged the heater pipes aka "Active ECU Heating system".
Me too - after doing the hot start mod and seeing how exposed all the electrical gubbins are to the heat radiating from the pipes, I got straight onto Demon Tweeks...Nuggs said:

Their standard central heating lagging (foam stuff) works a treat. Only 49p too!theaxe said:

). I spent a few hours on the M40/M25 in Sunday's baking heat, opened the passenger footwell up when I got back and it was pretty cool in there (especially compared to how it used to be), so I think it's a job well worth doing...
