Thank's for a great day
Discussion
I would just like to say a big thank you to whitechimp500 and cirvy for a great day by taking me around Oulton Park in there paj's. The cars where, in my opinion the best examples of their models on the track and were awesome, both were driven without fault and made, normally a great day, into a BRILLIANT day, Thanks to you both.

It was a pleasure to have your company Kev, it's always good to share the Cerb with fellow enthusiasts.
It was a good day, almost too hot & we certainly felt it when we got home, i was falling asleep at 9.00 ( at least it saved me from the footy highlights )

Looks to me like the MX5 is taking both of you

That MX5 went like a bloody rocket, obviously a track car , But we are on the left and passing....Honest.. There was a TDi Astra as well that was scarily fast. Prehaps the driver had something to do with it.
Thanks kevin63, It was fun to be in front of you and WC,..... for a while
A crackin day all round.

Thanks for the pics guys, i always take the camera but never manage to take any photos especially at open pit lane events.
Stunning day, great company, great driving. Nice to see a Chimera being driven in anger, its given me ideas for the next project. Even better seeing a heavily race prepared 911 GT3 being chased by the most basic of race cars. The Tuscan looked awsome!!!
Can't wait to do it all again!

taffstalini, was that you in the S2 (GRUNT) if so, i think some should have told you, S2s shouldn't go as fast as yours does, i was in with whitechimp500 and cirvy, and you were on track both times, and i must say i was amazed how good that car was on track.
By the way, i don't think whitehchimp500 will agree with you that his race Tuscan is basic, but he did enjoy his battle with that race Porker. (he took two cars)

Yes that was me, the S does do supprisingly well. I think the S series is a highly under estimated car, i just wish there were more to play with at track days.
My comment about whitehchimp500's Tuscan was not meant as any kind of insult its just that its development has not followed the same path as the Porche, it is not fitted with air jacks or clever electronic gismos it has not had teams of development engineers in Germany spending hours and hours refining it with new models relesed year after year. Its format has not realy changed since it was introduced and yet it can still give a heavily modified race porche a run for its money and i'm sure with a little more track time whitehchimp500 would have left it quite embarassed. It was a great to see.

We had a little fun in the afternoon ,as the track was pretty quiet -thank football
.
The Porsche gt3 race car was very quick out of bends -all that weight at the rear and big sticky slicks - where'as my Tuscan ,being much lighter over the rear wheels , has that "lively" feeling ,suggesting you would may be swapping ends very shortly
.
The sheer grunt of a full race AJP saw it catch the Porsche very quickly on the straights ,in fact i was pretty blown away by how easy it was to make up lost ground- not that we were racing - it was only a track day
.
It was really good to follow a proper driver round Oulton , im pretty sure that if Tim Hood or Darren Dowling were driving the Tuscan - and not a Spangle like me - it would have been a lot quicker than the Porsche - which is not bad for a 17 year old design , built in an old laundry

But to be fair that 911 wasn't being driven particularly quick - I could have piloted it considerably more quickly than that... but by the same token there is many a driver who could show me how to drive my car properly
I really do love Oulton and I can't help but notice how well the open pitlane format always works their, their always seems to be a noticable lack of t$ssers on the circuit by comparison to say (well in my experience) Donington. Personally thought the standard of driving was excellent all day and had a brilliant weekend.

As happens on track day's ,i think the Porsche was being driven by more than one driver.
On a couple of sessions it was taking it easy,as was i - the latter part of the day , 4pm ish - it was certainly knocking on
. ABG Motorsport , who brought the Porker ,certainly seem to have lots of British GT Championship experience , and anybody let loose in a full race GT3 is going to be a pretty good driver
. Anyway ,it felt fast to me ,and i've got the skid marks to prove it
. That Exige(Motorsport Elise ?) was quick and looked very tasty on Track.
You're right about the open pit lane and high standard of driving - I've come to expect that on EasyTrack days ,AFAIC the best Track Day set up out there.
Over the last five years ,i've been on days with some other outfits ,where the constant flapping of Red Flags had me thinking i was driving a Lada 'round 1970's Moscow
