Hi all,

I'm in the lucky position of becoming a Dad in about 8 weeks, so I want to get a camcorder to record everything - as you do....

My problem is that I have absolutely NO idea how these things work, what they cost, etc. As mentioned in the subject, I just want to do family type stuff with it, and I'm not interested in doing in-car videos. I'd like to spend between £2-300 pounds, if I can get away with it, but can spend more if necessary.

I've had a look around, and the Sony DCRHC35 looks like it might be the ticket, gets good reviews on Amazon, and I have a Sony digital camera that I'm very happy with. Is that any good for my requirements or can anyone recommend anything else in that sort of style?

Any advice as always hugely appreciated!

Good luck with both!

I think the Sony will be fine.

I have shed loads of Sony kit and it's always reliable... and it all talks to each other so easily.

Thanks to both of you, I'll get ordering. Might even be able to bring it to Goodwood this weekend!
