Vibrating knob (gear that is)
Discussion
Just been told by my dealer that they need to book the car in for them to correct the console wiring that they cocked up as it’s a 2 hour job. Is it worth mentioning the Vibrating gear lever at this time or is it as FinallyVXRed said a "characteristics of the Monaro" for which there is no cure. I don’t want to give them the opportunity to screw up again if there is no fix.

Monkey, just for clarity sake, that's what the dealer told me. I have no idea if this is true or not. In fact my comment was intended to be tongue in cheek as it seems to be offered a little too quickly for most of the points I raised which their "Monaro Expert" couldn't find a fault. For me the Jurys is still out until I meet up with a few of you guys and find out for sure or get my arse over to Greens for a health check, whichever happens first!

So It looks like its just you and me that has the vibrating knob problem. I did mention it to the dealer this morning when I took the car in and they said they’d look at it.
Unfortunately the heavens then open and flooded their workshop. Water was even pouring through the light fittings in the reception and they cancelled all appointments for the day. Rescheduled for Friday so I’ll let you know what they find.
The irony of the situation was not lost on me though as all these problems started after they attempted to fixed a leak in the car cabin whenever it rained! Which, after this mornings down pour, I can confirm it is now FIXED!!

Are you sure it's the knob itself?
Mine has the uprated GTS-R Shifter and I suffer from the gear linkage 'buzz' when under moderate-high load. It's more noticable in 3rd. I had the buzz with the original linkage as well. The GTS-R Shifter made things better but never completely resolved the problem. I've got all the updated noise reduction stuff in there but the 'buzz' remains. I believe the only way to remedy the situation it to upgrade to the Rip Shifter.
I'd be interested to know if there's a way to tighten up the linkage to reduce/remove the noise all together but I haven't read of one so far. Let me know how you get on and particularly if there's a resolution.

Good question. The vibration does seem to come from deeper in the box but if I hold the leaver it does shut it up! It is also more noticeable when cold. I’ll let you know what the verdict is on Friday.
So it looks like these Rip Shifters are the must have accessory. What are the other advantages other than shutting up the vibration?
The rippy (as its known) is a much more solid feel.. You know when you've got a gear and the movement between gears, either up or down, is much more possitive... especially good when you need to let the scooby t

Standard shift mechanism is like stirring porridge, rippy is more of a "switch" feel.

Well the T/C and Fog Lights are now connected correctly. The dealer has agreed there is a problem with the vibration and has ordered a replacement part. A new Gear lever! Apparently there is a rubber mounting bonded to the bottom which is the problem.

Just got back from holiday and looking back through the posts I missed - so dragging this back up. I had Monkfish fit a rip shifter for me in April but by May the gear lever started rattling. Roger narrowed it to the gear knob when I took it in to him. I guess if it's gonna rattle, then it's gonna rattle. Only solution is a replacement gear lever / knob unit from Vauxhall.
Well, I Got the car back today with a new gear lever fitted and the rattle has gone completely. Not a hint of a buzz. The only problem is they ripped the gaiter fitting it
So, a new one ordered and its got to go back in yet again!!!
Reminds me of a Flanders and Swan song. The Gas Man Cometh
