Incidentally, I took the opportunity while I had the Esprit gearbox out, to make a template of it 'just in case' I ever need to put a Rover V8 in...

On the way home from Le Mans 05 I saw a turbocharged RV8 engined pink Esprit. Best feature was only being able to see the fuel pressure gauge in the "rear view" mirror. Sound was amazing! You wont regret it if you have to go that route.

Isn't that a Black Cat Racing Lotus, seen it at LeMans a few times ,along with the Lotus 7 's and all sorts of other exoctic cars with wild mods on them

There was an RV8-engined Esprit up here around the time I got mine, hasn't been seen for a while though. My mate saw it and thought it was me as it was also a black S3.

I don't think so. I spoke to the driver while we waited to board the ferry. He said the project was done by a friend of his and the next step was NOS!

It seems to be a popular way of getting an Esprit back on the road, when an engine wears out or goes pop. I understand an RV8 conversion can be done a lot more cheaply than the cost of parts to rebuild the original lump esp. the HC ones!
