Best place for an MOT
Discussion
I used to use an MOT only place in Staples Corner for the Camaros for years, they knew me and the cars, very modified motor friendly re emmisions, lights etc.. but I heard they moved, but will try and find out where as mine comes up next month. Might be a bit of haul for you from sunny B'Stoke though...
To be honest - most places I have found do a fair MOT.
Normally all the difficulties of MOT'ing a Yank for a normal place are overcome with the (normally) testers interest in the car.
If you were looking at Melton Mowbray I'd say Wilson's Garage on Mill Street or if in Peterborough try Longueville Autos.
Fair tests in my opinion. Only thing might be the age of your ZR1 if you've got no cats, think pre-92 you can leave them out no question, other than that you technically probably should have them in for the test...

10 minutes north of Dartford crossing off J29 M25 on A127 towards Gallows corner is M & J Freeman at Star Moorings (01708 443053)These people are fair and understand yanks and especially Vettes. I have always used them. Even got an accolade on my C3 "thats the best parking brake we have ever had on a C3"!
Nice little place just down the road from me in Woking Cliff. If you want the details I can post them, but like most others a bit of a haul for you. If the MooT has run out, your insurance will probably only cover you to the nearest MoT place, worth checking out before you go on a long run to somewhere, just in case.
www.iangoss.co.uk . up and running.

I take all ours to Ravenscroft in Fleet. Wouldn't go as far to say drive halfway across the country to use them but i don't find its worth driving further than them as so far they do seem to do a good job and respect the cars. They have a clean workshop and surface level ramps that are big enough for even the viper back tires. Never had a problem with them being Gung ho and they usually ask about how to get the hood up or where to lift it etc and i can usually have a bit of a poke around underneath when its properly of the ground rather than just up on stands. The only real problem is lately i haven't had the same person do the MOT twice, and only one of them seems to have any real yank knowledge as he owns a fairly modded camaro.
Good luck
