O.k, time has come for a new set of rears. Any suggestions? I'm currently running Michelin Pilots which seem fine, but then I've had nothing to compare against.

Any advice much appreciated.

Been there, done all the big names (check back on previous posts on this subject for this car) best I've found and now gonna stick with are Toyo Proxes.

I ordered some Toyos today for my 3200GT as I've been really happy with the last set. They have done 18,000 miles and are just starting to go.

Looks like Toyos it is then - looking on blackcircles.com there's 2 types of Toyo Proxes - T1 R & T1 S (my god I sound like a trainspotter)- what's the difference?

Cost of Toyos all around, balancing and alignment today was £640. I'm told to go easy for the next 50 miles or so until the silicon coating wears off.

Hi, I'm in need of new rear tyres and after a little research it seems TOYO is the way to go. I am assuming that the T1-R is a new and improved version of the T1-S so is the natural choice. Anyone disagree from past experience?

Also I have Michelin on all round at the moment and the fronts are fine, what do people think of mixing brands front to rear i.e. Michelin front, TOYO rear - foolish or acceptable?

Any advice very welcome.

I've just put new Toyos on the rear and still have my Michelins on the front - the rears have lot of grip but the balance of the car seems to have been upset a little - the handling feels very 'twitchy' now. I'm going to stick with it for about another 2000 miles to get some half decent wear from the Michelins and then put new Toyos on the front to match.

On the thread for 4200 tyres there's a few references to Goodyear F1's. I've only used these on my 3200 and I find them excellent, around £150 each.

I'm also in need of rears and was going to have Toyos on the rear with Michelin on the front. However having read Aeronuts quote I think I'll get Michelin again and change to Toyo when all four need replacing.

I've been told by a tyre dealer that Toyo T1R is the only one available for the rear.

Sounds like a good price on the Goodyear F1s - might give them a try for my new rears. Currently have one Michelin pilot sport (due replacement) and one EXEZY cheap brand nearly new. Missed this when I inspected the car, guess car had a puncture recently.

Will be using e-tyres, a mobile fitting service I have used several times now. No affiliation or kickbacks yet ;-)

Hi, I ended up fitting Toyo T1R's all round, £580 in total. So far been very impressed, loads more grip and feel than the old Michelin Pilots, makes me want to drive it like a sports car! The car still breaks away quite quickly though, but I am in the process of finding someone to lower it for me which should help matters. The only issue i have had is that the fitter (local company - Big city tyres) scatched a couple of the alloys... great! in summary a big go for it on the Toyo's.
