I have a 19yr old and she has a Peugeot Moped.
I have an ongoing battle to get her to wear decent gear, I followed her at 60mph and she was wearing a skirt and open toed sandles. At least she wears a jacket, gloves and helmet. Has any one any stories or pictures that might make her wake up and wear boots and trousers, she has them just cant be bothered. Accident waiting to happen I guess!!!

Recommend you find a decent photo hosting service. All I'm seeing is a row of images very similar to these:

They seem to be pretty rubbish,(photobox)
If the chap who requested sends me an email link, I can share the folder with them, if it works.
I thought one of the mods had killed them as they are horrible. If someone has a better hosting site let me know.

I have a mate who came off at about 80mph wearing jeans, he got away with it VERY lightly, didn’t break anything but he has some impressive scars down the front of his right leg where the road took his skin off. They don’t bother him but girls are generally a lot more sensitive about appearances, even if she is as lucky as my friend was she will be left with scars that will last a lifetime and I don’t think she will look at them so casually. If she thinks she can survive coming off, ask her how she will feel wearing a skirt with scars all up her legs.

Friend of mine has just returned to work part time after an accident in February. He was wearing jeans and when knocked off not only did he break his leg but he lost all of the skin and muscle from his shin. He had a muscle removed from his back and grafted onto his shin to replace the missing skin. He has lost a lot of mobility in his foot as the muscle will never grow back.
So not only has he massive scaring on his leg he also has a big scar on his back.
Aparently whan they put the muscle on his leg it looked just like a big steak sown to his leg.

I seem to remember my instructor saying a crash at 30 mph would go from skin to bone in less than 2 seconds. That's pretty damn quick to receive permage that could easily be greatly reduced or avoided.

However, my 17 year old was the same, always wore helmet, boots and gloves but with jeans. A couple of 'offs' with thankfully just cuts and bruises has changed his mind a bit. Good luck!

Its a Peugeot Speedfighter with the restrictor removed and a non standard exhaust. Takes after her Dad Im afraid. Its been tweaked by a racer who owns a garage.

I started a big thread on whether wearing jeans on a bike was a good idea, let alone a skirt Have a look here:
www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?t=238327&f=74&h=0

Watch this video - slow speed but still looks very painful:
www.wackyvids.com/movies/2wheelstacks/202/nakedbiker.html

I think someone mentioned a scary statistic that was something like the skin on your hand disappears in 0.2 seconds if you hit the road at 30mph (can't find the exact figure/details now!).

Just ask her if she's happy to be limping for the rest of her life, or possibly lose her leg/life if she crashed. As an alternative, can I interest you in a very nice 2005 Gilera DNA50?

The stat I recall was you lose an inch of skin a second, sliding at 70mph. If you want some appropriate shock therapy, talk to the old bill about the sights they've witnessed. Sobering stuff.

I'll take a guess at blue leathers leaving a mark on the road, then blood as the flesh/muscle is torn through and the final white bit is the bone being ground away by the tarmac
