Tank range

Does anyone know the fuel tank range for a 350i. At some point I'm going to have a go at repairing the tank sender as my fuel gauge doesn't work. I fill it up every 100 miles at the moment but it would be nice to have an idea how far it will go.

My gauge is also pretty erratic.

Last fill was £25 out of which I got 125 miles.

When full (brimmed to the top) my gauge reads 3/4 full. after 125 miles it reads empty
Might have a problem with the inter-connect pipe between the 2 tanks.

I ALWAYS carry a can in the boot, and going to BBWF i'll take 2 !

I think the tanks are 13 ish Gallons in capacity, so 200 miles on a tank should be OK.

I think you just need to be careful, as the tanks do seem to airlock when filling, so although you may think you've got both tanks full, they may only be partially so...

Brimmed full - not always advisable due to old perrished rubbers etc .. you can get 200 miles from a tank that kind of assumes 10 gallons at around 20 mpg.. it also leaves some in reserve (pottentially) so you don't run nearly dry and get crap in the filter / pump.

Brimming it - only way to know it;s OK is to try it once..

150 miles is probably safer.

When I ran it as my only car all year round, I used to fill up once a week and never ran out.

32 (miles round trip to work) X 5 (number of work days a week) = 160 miles(range)

If I went out to play at the weekend I needed to fill up earlier though.

When I brimmed mine all seemed OK
and I managed to get 253 miles on 1 tank.

Most of the time it takes too long to brim it
so I usually average 200 miles to the tank.
My average is 25 mpg

And before anyone makes comments about me not using the throttle
