Having had a quick scan of the parts database known as Ebay, I've found a local source of the bits I need, in the right colour, and once the chap replies to me, I shall be getting the bits - plus other bits I needed anyway - hopefully at super cheap prices (i.e. cheaper than a gallon of antifreeze for a Porsche ), and the Golf will look right as rain

She's running perfectly still, and returned 37mpg on the way home

You gotta love her - spent all day teararsing about, had a wee incident, yet still chugs away happily

Thanks for all the concerned support on the day chaps

Pleased to meet you Neil, impressed to see you changing wheels in 30+ degrees,I had to turn the A/C up just so I could watch you,
I presume your panel rearrangement was caused by a sleight excursion,.
Mr silver Z3 did the same infront of me,completely disappered into the long grass, most impressive.

Mark.

Top job. I admire your resolve, and I really really enjoyed that... err.. hang on... that's a golf... err... OK, sod you!

And having to change down *2* gears to get a legs on you on that trip up said 'unrestricted highway, yes, m'lud, not regulated, nooooo siiirrreeee.

Respect for such a well sorted car, and hope you enjoyed the after effect of me realising I needed to press on.

To top it all, you changed the tyres in that barmy heat, when all I could do is listen to my fuel pump complaining and shelter in the VIP gazeebo.

Hope to see you at the next one, and truely your are a V*MAX*er!

Neil & his Golf surely deserve some kind of 'spirit of vmax' award

One of the funniest passenger rides I've had, one of the funniest drives I've had, & one of the funniest to watch weaving its way up the runway

Likewise. I'm not sure he appreciated it when I burst into fits of giggles as we bounced our way into the first bend though
