Have already been on a google mission and found nothing, so thought I would ask the PH collective to give out some advice and experience on the above.

I would like to find a 6 speed, upto 2001 and Im wondering what the pitfalls of owning this as a weekend car would be?

Servicing like a fezza???
Any guides?
Any reviews?

All would be welcome.

It would be a toy for the weekend doing circa 6k a year.

Now you can go and shatter my dream!!

Let me just say....you have to do it.

It is a decision from the heart and not the head, but I have had my 3200 Assetto Corsa for overa year now and it is the BEST thing I have ever done

Its a dream to drive, but never turn the ASR off in the wet...unlesss you want to entertain everyone else around you as you hurtle of the road sideways.

Servicing isnt all bad (£600 inc VAT for the annual), tires can get pricey if you thrash her. There are some specialists that are great and even some main dealers that do good servicing deals. I use Lancaster in Colchester they come collect and deliver for free and the quality of work done is great

there are loads of posts of servicing follow a few and get a feel for the variety of service levels.

I am straying from the point i wanted to make...which was...get the car you will always have a smile whenever you drive with a 3200GT

Sold mine at the begining of the year. Really regret getting rid of it. Not as mental as some suggest. Drive it with consideration for the cars abilities and downsides and it's a top motor. I had no major issues with the running costs. Having said that it was just over three when i got rid

There is lots of advice in here about the 3200GT. Just make sure you get it checked before. It MUST have a red key. It MUST be fully serviced.

I think you forgot to mention "it must be Indianapolis red"

red ones go faster

Check my profile - lots of info on ownership over an 18 month period.

Not cheap to own - servicing reasonable but there are always little jobs that need sorting when you drop it int a workshop. Having said that mine only let me down once (and that was only the aircon going pop!).

My costs over 18,000 miles in 18 months in a 8k mile 2002 car purchased 2003 :

2 lambada sensors 750
Air con pump 1,100
Tyres 600
Discs Pads radiator repair, replace antoi roll bars 4 wheel allignment 1700
Annual Service 654
Tyres 300
Annual Service 600

Total 5704 in 18 months

On that basis factor in around 4k per 12,000 miles. Also remember that a new clutch aint cheap so perhaps worth getting that checked before you buy on a manual car.

On top of that factor in a tubi exhaust (2k) or find a car that has one to start with - the sound is definately a must have part of the experience I think.

Magnificent machines and actually very reliable - mine never had a mechanical failure (except the air con!).

I'd love to have one again someday, but the superior handling of the Morgan and the fact I only have the space for one weekend car means it'll have to wait for now. Those boomerang lights still make me misty eyed with nostalgia whenever i see a set fly past! One day...

Go for it! - I've had my 99 manual for 6 months now and I use it every day. No problems at all as yet and it's surprisingly practical, although don't expect to be packing much luggage anywhere!
Make sure you've got the red key, a warranty (check out some of the previous threads), and some spare conkers for tyres, and servicing at a dealer or independent recommended on this site.
What's this fad with red cars anyway? Go for light blue, grey or black! (no doubt this will kick off a separate thread!)

Nettuno or sebring are both excellent colour choices imo.
