My front drivers side brake is starting to make the squealing noise under braking. The cars not pulling to the side or anything though. There's also a kind of 'click' noise when you apply the brakes, although it's always done that.
Are my pads on the way out or could it be something else?

Sorry, i'm a bit of a numpty with this sort of stuff

Have you checked the pads ? Rub your finger over the discs are they smooth or ribbed, that should be your first port of call? How many miles have you done since a break pad change?.

Just checked. The discs are pretty smooth. Done 14,000 miles and not changed the pads or anything yet. Does this sound reasonable?

my discs have 3 slight grooves in the face of them, and feel a bit rough when they get used at heat but the pads still have plenty material left on them

How can you see how much material is left on the pad though? Do you have to remove the caliper?
