I want to get hold of some brake pads that don't suck arse. I'm on the standard OEM pads at the moment and although they're reasonable from cold to mid-temps, they're absolutely awful when hot. Any recommendations for a gixer 600?

I have EBC? HH Pads in my Ducati and Bendix pads in my RC30, both work prety well for a mix of track days and road use. I have also had good results with Carbone Loraine.

The more extreem pads, intended for racing, typically cool down or never get warm enough on the road. These are a good compromise.

I use Bendix MRR pads in my 2005 R1 and they are very good in all conditions

Is it definitely the pads? Are you running braided hoses?

Most likely is the pads, braided hoses improve the feel a little bit, but standard hoses are pretty good these days and they don't change much with temperature anyway.

WHen you put new pads in, it's worth changing the fluid if it's more than a year old. Obviously you need to take care to bleed them perfectly as well.

i have found particualrly with Hondas anyway that the manufacturers pads leave a bit to be desired, will be going for some cinted(sp?) EBCs when i change mine well worth trying out in my opinion.

Sintered. A bit more aggressive on disks but better initial bite

Correct the std pads suck. Get some EBC HH put in ASAP!
I also had braided lines fitted. To be honest the gixxer doesn't exactly have the most awesome front brake setup (calipers/master cylinder) std compared to other bikes I've owned.
Some tea leaf solved my gixxer 600 (also a K3) ownership issues last year.

My 99 R6 has stunning brakes std, I'm running EBC HH with that too but still with OE hoses.

thanks for correcting me, was never sure how to spell it , them in a set of radial calipers provide amazing stopping power.

I'd recommend Carbonne Lorraine sintered 'superbike' pads for a GSXR.

Ok, it's booked in for its major service now and having braided hoses and CL pads fitted at the same time.
