Fantasic, just read your profile and see your in Belfast, I would like to meet up and have a look at your S3 and let you have a look at my S2.

Chassis wise my S2 is fine, just had a recent bodyoff repaint etc... but I will need to do some work on the interior, carpets might need replacing and I'd like to recover the dash in what should have been the original blue ? The dash appears to be black plastic with no padding ?

Photos of interior available on my website here.

Other than these 2 (fairly minor) things Im very happy with the car, bearing in mind I haven't seen it yet. My report from Rob Ingleby is what Im basing my information on.

You might want to check out the reason behind the slack fit of the rear screen section where it meets the bodywork - looks kinda puckered from the rear. Did Rob say anything about that? There seems to be a gap where the section hinges that looks like an opportunity for wet carpets.
Hope this doesn't detract from your successful purchase - and safe drive home.

Rob did mention the folding part of the roof may need some work, but nothing terminal.

Bearing in mind the price of the car, I am willing to do some work on the car. Besides I thought all you Tiv owners only drove with the roofs down

I'll be learning as i go along, The Bible comes with the car expect lots of questions on the forums.

In your experience what do you think needs to be done with the roof ?

Having now got the car home and had a good look round it, I definately need to replace the carpets, and upon closer inspection the dashboard was one of the entire wood veneer (effect?) dashboards, that someone painted black, probably because it peeled and it was too expensive to re-veneer.

I think I prefer the standard padded leather effect dashboards, especially after seeing LeeBee's interior, so I want to look into recovering mine, any pointers ?

Also any pointers on the carpet replacement ?

Oh and final thing, after going throught the MOUNTAIN of receipts that came with the car, it appears the roof hoop was replaced in 99, on closer inspection it appears the fitting of the roof material to the new hoop was, less than successful, looks like the new hoop was slightly larger than the original, as the roof material seems too short at each side where it hinges, this I think is the reason for the puckered look at the back as well.

Again any ideas on how to fix the folding roof

All in all Im very pleased with the car, Initally I was slightly disappointed with the interior, but at least that is fairly easy to sort.

Thanks
