Just got my new phone (Nokia N80) and cant find how to set an MP3 as a ringtone it only seems to let me select the ones already on the phone.

They are copied to the memory card in the phone and do work.

Before anyone says RTFM i did and it just says select your ringtone.

I think some phones are locked so that unless there is a digital certificate attahed to the file the phone won't allow you to play the tune as a ringtone.

Do a google for ringtones, DRM and your phone model.

ETA: I'm aware of an application that you can download for Sony/Ericsson phones that Digitally Signs a file so that it can be played as a ringtone, not sure if Nokia do a similar, if you find one please let me know

ETA2: It's a minefield!

Thanks for that discovered the problem now.

You have to put the files in the right pre installed folder on the memory card, i had created my own folder for them but it doesnt let you browse the folders when choosing a ringtone.

If only it had mentioned this in the manual.
