Does Hotmail have some sort of Googlemail time expander built into it? Whenever I send anything from my googlemail account to a hotmail account it takes several days to get through , but mail from my other accounts to hotmail get through very quickly, usually within a few minutes.

Are Hotmail artificially lengthening the googlemail delivery times because they're a direct competitor? if so why don't they do it for all non hotmail mail being delivered?

I sent some pics to my gf of our recent day out and the ones sent from my freeserve account turned up almost instantly, the ones from googlemail still havent turned up in her account 3 days later

Nope. I have access to her account and it's defo not in there. I resent from my freeserve account and that got through fine. resent again from googlemail and it didn't get through. The last message i sent from googlemail took days to get to her inbox and it doesn't matter if i send direct from the googlemail web interface or from my outlook express pop mail either. it's just a bit confusing and inconvenient as i have to transfer pics to my pc from the net to send them from my freeserve account (i use my googlemail account for some extra storage)

Strange as I have no probs between a friend using GMail and myself on Hotmail. No large attachments though (even though would assume any delay would be minimal)....
You can do a test with my Hotmail addy if you want, send me some pictures of nice shiny Griff damper upgrades if you've any such pics lurking about

It wouldnt be the first time that they have done that, although they would deny it to the hilt. There was a week whereby you could not send to hotmail from Yahoo whatsoever, about 3 years ago IIRC.

Hotmail are just useless with incoming (and often outgoing) messages on a regular basis. 90% of the delivery problems I see from our mail servers at work are trying to sent things to hotmail users.

No idea on te email thing, but tackling the problem from another direction you could just use GMail file system to share the files, or the windows messenger sharing folder thing (although that requires you to both be online at the same time, I think).

Thanks for all replies .. mail from my google account took just over an hour to reach Richard so considerably faster though not speed of light lol!

I'll look into the file share thing too, cheers.

lol. it's supposed to be a shared account, but she always has trouble signing into it, hence she prefers to use her older hotmail account.
