Would like to get the "famous" Griffs in one location at the Growl.
Ones I can think of are:
J524MHG (Steve Prevett) 1 of 3 motor show cars - coming Sunday only
284JNN - Jenny (Macks) lifer development car - Sunday only
J631NFV (Pete's) - Sat and Sun
M519RCW - now privately registered (flipflip press 500) - Jason Cook - not coming as far as I'm aware.
Yellow first customer car (maybe A15TVR) - not sure
L110BFV - Blue 500 press car - I know David Gerald sold it about 18 months ago so I'll contact them)
Any more that should be on the list or any updates on attendance from the above?
Wouldn't it be great to get all the landmark Griffs in the same place at the same time?

Have you contacted the Hockins to see if they're bringing their Griff racer up from Bideford? It's the 2005 TVRCC Class B Champion you know!

Any contact deatils for Marc Hockin - or anyone persuade him?
I've contacted DG's who are passing on my number to the new owner of L110. It was sold without engine or gearbox so not sure it has the running gear yet.

It's a pity nobody owns the Speed Six Griff.

L110BFV might be a Speed Six Griff.........

I remember talking to David Gerald about it when it was for sale, it was a rolling chassis with no engine / gearbox, I remember them saying all the wiring etc, etc was speed six and not as original RV8, ie as it was a development car it was probably running a speed six before it was sold, so it could have had one put back in ???

I did'nt pursue it any further as the chassis was rotten, it really needed full restoration.

does anyone know where it went ?

No idea who bought it, although I considered it myself. I spent quite a long time working on that car at the factory when there as a summer job a few times in the mid 90s, including fitting an early AJP8 to it, and recall with a grin going up and down Bristol Avenue making lots of noise with the bonnet off 'cos it wouldn't fit over the engine. Later it had a variety of 6's fitted and according to David Gerald the car was as suited to rebuild with one of those as much as a Rover V8.

I priced up the car, and a replacement engine (either RV8 or AJP6) and gearbox and other main bits and work needed, and decided I'd be far better off buying a tidy one to start with. Although perhaps I should have put a higher price on sentimental value!

It had lots of other bits needing restoring too though, the interior had random extra gauges falling out of every orifice and the car must have had a million different looms fitted at various stages.

Thinking about it, I remember re-fitting triangular bits of foil-covered sound deadening material in between all the chassis rails down the inside of the transmission tunnel. My 500 doesn't have those - does anyone else's?

I'd love to see the car regardless of current state if it can be coaxed along to the Growl!

Mine does, but they may be being removed due to them looking mostly disintegrated.

Back to the point of the thread - our Griff has been in Holby City a few times. Probably not famous enough for this thread...

happy to oblige with J524MHG - as well as motor shows it also featured in all the landmark press reports of the day (Car/Autocar/FastLane/Peformance car etc) and was Neill Anderson's development hack (for some Cerbera items too)and sprint championship winner for him for two consec years. It still has most of the goodies Neill fitted including Cerbera diff, 18" spider alloys, AP Racing brakes and VDO prototype guages. I've tried to restore it as close to how Neill 'left' it and so has the marks of its history for all to see rather than made up to be 'like new'. In some respects this car is how Neill evolved his vision of the 'ultimate' Griffith and is interesting for that alone I think. The 140-odd photos of its restoration and copies of the press reports/road tests it was in are being sent to Richard Sails for the club archive and I'll bring copies to the Growl for anyone to look at if they're interested. I'm intending to bring mine on the Sunday aswell, yellow '91 Motorshow car and first customer car(A15 TVR). Sounds like a great idea to get them together in a group.

I'm sure BB would like a copy of those for The Griffith Pages, if that's OK.

Great idea, I'll be there with J631NFV, as you mentioned, on both days.

sprevett & tweety,
It'll be good to see the original three cars back together again for a photo - the last time it happened was probably on the '91 motorshow stand!
See you on the sunday,
mack

Cheers Steve, Al and mack - it will be great to see all 3 together again.
I've spoken to the L110 owners and it will most likely be a speed 6 when it is rebuilt although it sits in a garage in te same state that it was purchased at the mo. Intention is to rebuild over the next 12 months. They have bought another in the meantime and will be at the Growl anyway. May bring L110 on a trailer.
I think if we had Jason Cook that we would be the most famous 5 wouldn't it?

Who's got 100 of 100 of the LE's? Last I knew it was Graham Maidlow? Is he coming? Roger Thomas's LE has what I think is the last registered and he's going.
