Passenger side has dropped about a third of an inch making it rub on the body when you close it. Drivers side has a tiny bit but nowhere near as bad.
Apparently the bobbin has come loose on the passenger side and is on its way out on the drivers side.
Recommended course of action is to cut a hole in the top of the door to fix the problem on both sides and then re-glass, paint etc. Obviously this is expensive and I'm not too chuffed at the idea of big holes going into the doors.
Anyone had the same problem and overcome it in an ingenious/less destructive manner?

I managed, with a lot of difficulty, to fit a new bobbin for the lower n/s door hinge without cutting any holes - but if I had cut a hole it would have been in the inner face of the sill (in the footwell). If it was the upper bobbin then you could cut a hole in the body in the area that is covered by the corner of the bonnet when it is shut.
I don't think cutting holes in doors will get you anyhwere as you can get to the door mounted bits by removing the door trim. (All of this is for an S2 with short doors, S3's may be different)

This is a job that while not simple is well worth the effort I replaced the lower captive nut by drilling it out from the top as the access is easier. check ou this thread for more info
