Carl and a group of volunteers in the village of Stroud are putting on a Music Festival. It sounds like it will be a grand day out and I think it's time to help Carl out after all the effort he puts in for us. There's a number of the Surrey folks attending. It'd be great to see you there too.

THERE’S a baker’s dozen of acts now lined up for a marathon open air music festival to raise cash for a new community building for Stroud.
And tickets are going fast for the 12-hour Tin Hut Music Festival on Saturday, July 15.
Organisers are planning for up to 500 people to attend the event on land next to Stroud’s existing village hall on the A272.
Popular acoustic funk rock quartet Goondocks headline the festival which is hoped to raise around £5,000.
The London-based outfit are joined by local bands One Weird Fish and The Wide Eyes, top south coast blues group The Mustangs and Devon’s Amy Newton.
Tremain, Amalthea, the Micky Kemp Band, Andy Comley, The Gourmet Fins, Andrew Jarmin, Ben Fawson and Dave Wheat complete the line-up.
East Hampshire promoter Iain Martin, who has lined up the musicians, believes the event could sell out.
“We’re very excited by the interest in the festival at this early stage,” he said.
“With the initial uptake in ticket sales there is a strong chance we will sell out in advance of the event.
“Music lovers have latched on to the fact that there is an absolute bargain to be had with access to various musical styles including rock, pop, blues, soul, folk, country and funk.
“I’d encourage people to buy tickets to help support an excellent local community cause and have 12 hours musical fun into the bargain.”
The festival is named in honour of the current village hall.
Villager Carl Baker, who is helping to organise the event, explained: “The village hall is a very old tin hut with a long tradition of serving the people of Stroud so the name of the festival is most appropriate.
“We don’t have an actual fund raising target but it would be fantastic if we could hit £5,000.”
A host of family activities is also being lined up including a bouncy castle, football games and gladiator-style jousting.
Said Carl: “We want people to come along, enjoy the music but also stay as long as they can and enjoy a whole range of other things that will be going on.”
