Hi all
Recently bought HSV GTS 029 from LSV having just been fitted with a vortech supercharger big brakes etc etc. So a big hello to all, can't believe how good these things look and sound. Prior to this car I've had 6years of Lotus Carlton ownership so know what powerful rwd cars are like but this thing moves things to a whole new level.
My question is dumpvalve related. It used to make a single 'chish' when changing up through the gears, all of a sudden for no apparent reason it chatters like a cage full of budgies. This also happens every time I lift off the throttle at more or less any rpm.

Any thoughts?

cheers

From Profile >HSV GTS 029 Supercharged by LSV with big brake conversion. Last rolling road at LSV showed 571.4bhp<

Bloody hell! is the extra just from the super charger? What was it before?

Oh sorry.....and welcome

Firstly, welcome! I think I saw your GTS on the RR at LSV a few weeks ago when I dropped my GTS off for a clutch change. Very nice (assuming it was the black one).
As far as the query goes, I would have it checked, if it's chattering then I would think the valve is flapping rather than a full release as it should be.

Hi, I think your car has the engine, brakes, exhaust etc. from my "written off" HSV (VX). If so, the engine is an absolute gem & the only problem I ever had was a seized pulley bearing. I looked after it very well & changed the oil (Valvoline fully synth.) & filter every 6k miles or earlier. Most of its mileage was clocked up on motorways were it terrorised "supercars". Highlights being a 360 Ferrari that couldn't overtake & an Evo that blew up trying!
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did; I loved the fact that it was so easy & relaxing to use for everyday driving yet was faster than most supercars when you pressed your foot down.
I've no idea about the source of the noise, other than to suggest checking all the pipes etc. after first calling Mark, @ LSV who modded & maintained it.

I think it was one of the "Tommi Mak" versions. Big clouds of smoke!
From experience, Evo's & the like might be very quick to 100mph, although at 10.0secs my HSV wasn't slow, but above 100mph big engines & big bhp rule!
Over 150mph the Aerodynamics start to let the side down though.

Hi Guys

cheers for the replys, yes it is the black one and yes it had all the bits kindly 'donated' from the VX. Performance is, as you say, staggering. Its a very nice feeling knowing that there is pretty much nothing that you're going to meet in the real world thats going to cause a problem.

I'll have a better look over the weekend but don't think its anything too seriarse

cheers

All is well with the world again

after much wailing and gnashing of teeth discovered that the blow off valves were fine but a vacuum pipe at the back of the engine just before the one way valve had split and disconnected. One new piece of pipe later and we're back to making lots off strange noises and generally scaring small children.

Cheers for all your input both on forum and PM
