Not much about the DTM race at Brands on Sunday so I thought I'd post a few pics. As I've said elsewhere don't think it was the best trip to Brands I've made, there was just too much waiting around between racing (which is strange for Brands), and too much corporate stuff going on, like an hours worth of taxi rides round the track. The DTM race was ok though and the cars to be fair are pretty awesome especially when you consider there's no driver aids as there shouldn't be.

Also there's a new huge fence at the top of Druids, a favorite place to capture pictures of anything coming up the hill, there was one recently on here (sorry can;t remember by whom) of a caterham which was just stunning. But the oppertunity to take the same shots has now gone, the fence must be 10 feet high which is just pants (although I suppose they're only doing it for safety and not to stop the happy snappy brigade). The original fence is still there half way round, not sure if they're going to replace that too

Anyway here's a few from Sunday

Great stuff Rhu!

I was there too and was equally gutted about the new fence!

There was a press dude there on a ladder for the main race though. It seems that a 6 foot step ladder is fast becoming the photogs tool of choice now for motorsport shots.

I thought the race was good too, rest of the day was a little dull though. Still at least the sun was out.

ps. What lens are those taken with? They're pin sharp!

Greg, thanks, I was using a D70 with a Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 lens for the ones on the inside of druids, and for the ones on the outside of druids and paddock hill bend, the same lens with a Sigma 1.4 ED teleconverter. I'm very pleased with both, definately money well spent.

Cool pic's. Gotta get round to buying one of those lenses once I've paid for my new suspension

Great pics!

Was there too with my camera, will post some of my shots up in the next day or so, have about 50 crackers!

Noticed the fence at Druids too, but wasn't sure if it was new (I see the gap for the tractor is new though). Got a few great shots from the inside of Druids with the wide angle that I'm pretty pleased about, unfortunately it was just when they were doing the taxi rides and not the actual race, but you wouldn't know that from the pictures

Right, that does it! I'm going to forget about the 20" rims for my Chrysler Voyager and get exactally that too!

Do you think 1.4 or the 1.7 x converter?

Greg

I've just been reading some of the messages regarding the DTM from Brands Hatch, I also attended the race weekend with a friend, and thought the event and trackside viewing was great. On the Friday I was at Donington Park watching the Moto GP's and the trackside viewing was crap, there's fencing everywhere and to get a good picture of any track action you would need at least a 300mm lens or 200mm via a tele converter. It was my first vist to Brands Hatch and both myself and my friend where very suprised to find so many brilliant viewing area's when we turned up on Friday evening. I just wish Donington Park & Silverstone where as good has Brands Hatch when it come to taking photo's of track action. The only other race track I know that's like Brands for viewing is Oulton Park, I just wish they had better events on like Brands. Also just like to add my 2 penith regarding the photo's posted, very good indeed. I took a few pic's which are available to view via my website www.wfphotography.com
