Head Gasket/Cam belt change 1988 S1
Discussion
Can anybody help. Is it sensible to replace the cam belt at the same time as replacing the head gasket? Where would I be able to get the parts required (and prices) and would it be possible for a ham-fisted non-mechanical person like me to do it and if so how long should it take. Lots of questions but I need guidance. Thanks.
best bet is to buy a copy of the 'Bible' otherwise known as the S Handbook from Steve Heath publications, or get an old Haynes manual for the Ford with your engine in it - guessing 2.8 Capri would do but sure some S1 owners will be along later to give more advice!
PS - your engine has 2 head gaskets (one for each cylinder head) and the camshaft is not driven by a cam belt so you don't need to replace it - unlike my missus' Clio which just snapped - bugger!
