My mate has just charged me £140 for 2 .com domains and anual hosting.
That seems like a HELL of a lot to me.

It's definitely a lot more than I pay for mine, but prices can vary depending on the size of your package (no pun intended )

I pay about £45 pa with 123-reg, but as the man said, it does depend on bandwidth and number of options.

I pay £1300 per year (hosting) for one of my sites.

The actual domain is another £270 per year.

woa.

Well he said there isn't a limit on my bandwidth.
I doubt that many people will be looking at my stuff anyway.

£34.99 for 150 meg and dot com name for a year, got a couple of sites, one for a football club and one for a commercial site I have, both from www.mrsite.co.uk and they also do an online program for setting up / updating the site which is great for beginners.
Then got a .co.uk name from www.telivo.co.uk with email fowarding for £5.78 for 2 years.

If you want to assess whether you're paying a fair rate then you need to provide us with more details of what exactly is included in the package. Unlimited bandwidth sounds great (but is it really accurate?) but what do you get in terms of storage space, facilities (.NET, databases, etc.) and email? For a basic package I'd have guessed at around £100 for the two domains so I don't think you're getting ripped off.

they all say that until you actually push some decent traffic around. I've had supposedly unlimited sites pulled for 6gb per week transfer.

We'll I've bought my domain names already, and there isn't any restriction on size of files to be uploaded. One of the sites will interest people from here as I'll be hosting my car vids on there
I'll see how it goes, if I get any warnings then I know I'll have to do something else.

Videos + Lots of people = Bye Bye Unlimited Account

You're always best of knowing what your limits are, that way you know where you stand.
