Hi folks,

So there I am, thinking sorted the elctrical problem on my Chimaera out...after checking all the earths, dashboard out, sorting poor wiring connections etc etc etc, renewed all of the dashboard bulbs (as I had access to them), + put on more earth straps etc, then did a bolt check (post body back on) , put my new "430 Big Valve" badges on all looking good... so now thinking all I have to do is give her a clean and polish in readiness for the run to Blackpool next weekend and that's it.

So I go to move the car into the garage get in...look at the drivers door mirror ...it's at an angle o.k. straighten it up...hold on that's a bit loose....no that's actually broken!!! Bit of a twist and it's flapping in mid air.

My little boy looks a bit sheepish...say no more he has obviously been doing some door mirror weight support testing for me god love him!

However I must be getting old didn't bother shouting or anything as the damage was done and all that

..just spent the next half an hour taking the thing apart and I come to the conclusion that the work isn't over just yet then ahh the fun of owning toys!! Managed to break the mirror glass too as this was glued in!

Anyone had similar experiences with young folk lending a hand?

Steve.G.

Take it your going back home then. I was wondering if I should enter the concours competition, but I don't think I have a chance if you are going to, your chassis looks fantastic!

My mirrors seem a bit wobbly, hopefully mine won't fall off as well!

Are you sure that its not all the extra BHP that you've now got...pushing you along even faster and therefore breaking the mirror?

Adam,

bit of an unfortunate thing happened yesterday, had pretty much total melt down of the electrics yesterday I have some sort of electrical problem that has totalled the 30 and 15 amp fuses melting them to the fuse board, which I do not think is recoverable.

Wixer/moog and myself have been working on this trying to resolve the problem, the ignition feeds all appear fine as does the main feed from the battery, looking for a shorting problem, but to be honest I can't see me making it to backhome inn the car, timescales all too short, I will be gutted if this is the case thats for sure.

I have done the obvious and looked for trapped wires, found nothing

Steve.

Hi jamie,

Engine is running good, really pulls well, the cam is working nicely too, lots of grunt easy to drive and goes like stink!! Plus pops and bangs more and more...we did an oil change on it on Saturday.. nothing found on the drain plug, used a landrover filter, all is well with the rebuild did a spanner check, checked the gearbox oil / diff for leaks all is fine apart from ...... . the electric issues on the journey back home (see the other post).

Let me know if I need to email you anything else regarding you know what!
