Wet roads - what just happened to me...
Discussion
Just a quick word of warning to all you Chim owners. Even the experienced ones.
I have just returned from a rather evenful trip down to Sainsburies having acheived my first ever 540 spin.
With almost barnd new tires and not putting down any power at all, I hit the 9 0-clock position of the local medium sized roundabout, loads of other cars everywhere (busy time), and the back just kicked out on me. With drivers open mouthed, I proceeded to do a beautifully choreographed 540.
Thanks to my (now amazing) handling skills i managed to avoid all cars and kerbs, with steering wheel spinning through my hand Tiff Needel stylee.
Facing the wrong way I quickly collected myself together and took the next exit - the first turning to my right!
It's wet here after a long dry spell so will be slippery but I'm wondering if I hit oil. It just let go without warning.
Please be careful out there.

When i say almost brand new tires, that was a bit of an exaggeration. They are well worn in with about £6000 miles of them, but look new i.e. lots of tread and even-wearing.
£6000 worth of miles! Mine does 200 miles to £45 so thats 26,666 miles. They're proabably a bit worn by now...

Thing is I am awesome at handling my bitch in the dry. I can hang her tail out at T-junctions in full power slide fashion. But this morning was odd. I'm thinking oil or deisel patch maybe. I don't believe that even Schumacher could have done anything about it.
Modest with it as well

The car would normally have given you prior warning from the front end in situations like this, the only way you would really get into the situation you found yourself in is if you had a large torque differential between the front and back ends of the car .. ie if you were on a light throttle the front and rear would have done roughly the same thing, but as soon as you put an excess of torque through the rear wheels (either on or off the power) then you head for trouble. I'd wager you're probably not as talented as you make out
The only times I've ever come unstuck in my TVR are when i've been behaving like a complete tit! and i have the bent trailing arm to prove it.

I think it's more likely that you made a mistake and then didn't recognise what was happening quickly enough to stay in control. Think it through carefully and see if you can work out why the slide occured and what you could have done better with hindsight. If you just put it down to some strange quirk of handling or an extra slippery bit of road, you'll have missed the opportunity to learn a valuable lesson.
