filler cap breather

i've got a loverly billet fuel cap but i think the heat and cap are not letting my tank breathe as i keep having to manually vent it
i'm thinking about drilling a small hole in the middle of the cap and putting a smaller hole in the little piece of rubber to see if it helps it breathe better
any thoughts my car is a 96 4.2

There is a breather for the tank alreay, with (I think) a carbon can filter on the end of the pipe. This filter can get blocked and cause the problems.

I wouldn't recommend drilling the cap...
