650 cheveaux! I do feel my car lacks that absolute killer lunge; maybe you get used to uber hoof but I have immense empathy for the condition known amongst other things (in Ferrari circles, for example) as Koenigitus; that insatiable need for accelerative wonderlust.

You have it too, Daz; because what else comes close to hammering HARD on a deserted stretch of tarmac?

Fully zymoled and gleaming black outside now, as I'm supposed to be working, I can't help romanticising the notion of the beetle's lush, melted form scrabbling down the FugelStrasse at it's spiritual canter, circa 150-160 mph.

It's a funny thing DeR. 10 months into ownership I still get that feeling of a "I can't believe it's mine" everytime I lift the garage door. I still take great delight from passengers reactions to a 2nd/3rd gear thrash, even supercar owners are usually the correct side of gobsmacked!!
