Mrs Puggit reports that last week there was a mobile speed trap in an unmarked car, with a marked car parked behind on the A33 relief road.

The trap was sited on the slip roads for the new Kennet Island Village development - which is opposite the tip.

Not sure if this was a bona fide trap, or someone measuring if it's worth some kind of permanent trap there. Those of us who know that stretch of road know that the lines painted on the road are nothing to worry about...

Perhaps no more...

I have seen Plod down here before but normally in the entrance to the tip.

I have seen a camera van parked on the other side but not for ages. I guess it is a matter of time until a camera is put there, especially with the new housing estate.

Saw a marked car there on Friday. Is it me,but chevroned areas are not to be driven on,let alone parked on,as the Plod was.Is that legal to take speed readings where they are 'illegally' parked?

Yep, the council can give them dispensation to park anywhere, hence the Vastern Road scammer (worth £25k per week).

I used to be the maintenance engineer for the building right outside where the scamera van used to park in Vastern road.the one 30mph sign hidden in the bushes in the central reservation, near the lights always made me voice an 'oppinion' to the muppet in the van
