Not the usual hot start problem ??????
Discussion
This is probably just conincidence, but having read how "unusual" Chimaeras are, I suppose there could be a reason for it.
The story is:-
Went for a blast and got the engine nice and hot. Got back home, parked on the drive with the headlights on and had to remove the keys to open the garage door and of course the lights stayed on as they always do.
Got a bit sidetracked and so she was left like that for about 5 minutes. Got back in, turned the key and nothing, no dimmimg of the lights or anything.
Similar situation to just after I bought her a couple of years ago and needed a new starter, but since then no problems.
Anyway, tried a couple of times, can hear the fuel pump priming but still nothing happening about firing the engine. Then in desperation I turn the lights off, try again and straight away off she goes.
The question is. is there a reason for this? Is it common? or am I clutching at straws and hoping I don't have a hot start problem again?

Sounds like the hot start problem to me.
As you had your head lights on the battery voltage would have been slightly lower as the head lights draw
quite a lot of current.
This may have been sufficient to show up the hot start problem as this is partly caused by the solenoid
wire not being quite up to the job (dropping to much voltage along it's length) and the two problems together
showed up the hot start fault.
May be time for the modwise kit.
Not fitted it myself yet but probably will this summer.
Cheers,
Paul.
